How the world ended

I heard some rumors going around about a few fires in Australia. I thought it was just some random house or something small like that but it was much bigger. I was at school just like normal when I heard a loud noise, it was the fire alarm. We all rushed for the closest exit but it was locked. We panicked and tried to break through the window, as the glass shattered we rushed through the small gap, my heart was racing as I saw the smoke. Luckily, we were all safe the fire trucks arrived and there wasn’t too much damage to the school, but the fires destroyed most of the forests. Later on in the week I was at my best friend's house and her parents were watching the news, it was something about a new virus, at first we thought it was just the flu but little did we know it was much worse than that. My mom and I went to get some groceries for my grandma, we dropped them off and had a cup of tea, sadly that was the last time we saw her. Our school closed the next week, and we were forced into a nationwide lockdown. As the days went on we knew we were in a lot more danger than expected. The president tried his best to keep everyone safe and limit our worries but it didn’t really help. I wish I could say it ended there but it didn’t. We had to wear a mask wherever we went and couldn’t touch anybody. Life as we knew it was about to end. As the virus spread, more and more people were getting infected and dying. This was now a pandemic. We all knew we were in a lot of danger but no one was prepared for what was about to happen next. This gigantic object started hurdling its way towards us, we ran to the nearest bunker and waited. We must have been there for a day or two, when we finally came out, all we saw was a wide-open plain of smoke and dust. That was the last day I was a normal kid, my family and I looked for as many survivors as possible, we tried to find food but everything was destroyed. I tried my best to keep calm but it was getting harder and harder, we made our way to a refugee camp as we thought we would be safer there, I met a few new people and thought life would go back to normal but I was wrong. We saw some military trucks approach, they said they would try and keep us safe but we must move as there was a threat to the camp we were staying at. They started loading people into these weird van-like cars, starting with the children. We were probably driving for seven or eight hours before we stopped at what looked like an old coffee shop. We stretched our legs and got back in the vans. We continued driving for another three hours until we reached a camping ground, it was basically a more advanced refugee camp. We started training like soldiers for the next couple of weeks, they said we must be prepared for anything. The clean water and food was limited but it got us through the day, we kept wondering if we would ever go back to school or see our friends again.
